Coffeestamp at Grounds for Change

Dr. G and Chancellor at Coffeestamp

Picture this: It’s a cold winter morning in St. Louis on our Danforth Campus. A fresh, homemade hot breakfast with a large coffee sounds perfect to warm you up from the chilly outside air. Luckily for you, your pathway takes you right by Coffeestamp at Grounds for Change in Hillman Hall.

Corner 17

Dr. G, Chancellor Martin and Xin Wei

With so many great local eateries now just steps away from all our on-campus living, we decided to shift the focus of our Good Eats Food blog to start highlighting the local restaurants on the Danforth Campus. The first location the Chancellor and I decided to visit was Corner 17 at Whispers Café located in the Olin Library.

Confluence Kombucha

Chancellor and Dr G at Confluence Kombucha

For our “in the Lou” food tour we popped into a handful of locations, including Confluence Kombucha. Chancellor Martin and I were thrilled to make this stop because students learned more about the kombuchery and their processes used for brewing.

Sameem Afghan Restaurant

Chancellor Martin and I joined students to venture through The Grove and take in a few stops along the way, one of them at Sameem Afghan Restaurant which offers traditional and fusion dishes.

Steve’s Hot Dogs

What better way to make new students feel at home that than to take them to a local favorite that specializes in an all-American classic like hot dogs!

Turmeric Pan-Indian Cuisine

Chancellor Martin and Dr. G at Turmeric

Down the street from WashU’s off-campus Loft Apartments, Turmeric Pan-Indian Cuisine is the perfect restaurant to frequent with your friends and is a great choice to take your family when they come to visit.

Terror Tacos

Terror Tacos

Not your typical taco joint, the all-vegan Terror Tacos surprised me with its delicious food and unique theming.

Gonzalez, Martin launch food blog

Chancellor, Dr. G and Steve Ewing at Steve's Hot Dogs

I hope the blog will inspire students and their families to explore different neighborhoods and meet the people of St. Louis.
